A special shout out to VVFF Team Members Steve Gibson - Oregon and Candace Lerman - Florida, along with Patriot Supporter Kristen Thomasino - San Pedro, (LA) California, who all requested and advocated for their respective State Governors and City Mayor to issue a Fibromyalgia Awareness Day Proclamation. Unfortunately, their Proclamation requests were not granted this year. However, next year VVFF Team Members will submit a Fibromyalgia Proclamation request in 2024, and VVFF will rally State Governors and City Mayors, to honor our advocacy requests and issue a Fibromyalgia Awareness Day Proclamation for May 12th, 2024.
What is a Proclamation and what does it mean?
A proclamation is a formal public statement or act, that officially notifies the public, a governmental entity has made a formal declaration. A written or printed proclamation document issued by a superior government executive, such as the president or governor, establishes such a declaration by the government. Once the Proclamation is declared, in this case May 12th as Fibromyalgia Awareness Day in any given State, it becomes an official declaration of recognition!
Thank you to all our Friends, Supporters and fellow Fibro Warriors who took the time to contact Governor's Offices throughout the United States, advocating for a Proclamation for Fibromyalgia Awareness Day! Thank you to North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, Colorado Governor Jared Polis, Ohio Governor Mike Dewine, and Baltimore County Executive John Olszewski.
If you are still wondering about the positive, and validating, impact a Fibromyalgia Awareness Day Proclamation has on our community, here is Veteran Voices For Fibromyalgia Team Member Evan Smith, as he stands in front of the Indiana State Capitol, holding the Governor issued Fibromyalgia Proclamation. They say a picture says 1,000 words, and this is evident as Evan humbly holds the Indiana State Proclamation for Fibromyalgia.
